TONIGHT:
The Ontario Reign (12-8-1-2) hit the road for their second game of a home-and-home series against the Bakersfield Condors (12-9-1-2). This is the sixth meeting of the season between these two clubs. Ontario has earned four out of a possible 10 points in the matches against their rivals from Kern County.
SCOFIELD SENSATIONAL IN DEBUT:
Newcomer Tyler Scofield made an immediate impact on the scoresheet on Wednesday, as he banged in the rebound off of Matt Register's point shot to even the score at 2-2 in the second period for his first in a Reign uniform. The speedy winger also managed to do so while seeing significant time at center.
SHEEN SEEING TIME ON "D":
With the recent spate of injuries and call-ups that have affected the Reign blueline, head coach Jason Christie employed forward left wing Everett Sheen as his sixth defenseman for the majority of Wednesday's game. Ontario's alternate captain did not disappoint, as he finished the match with three shots on goal and a +1.
KING OF THE HILL:
Tristan King's goal in the first period last night moved him ahead of Derek Couture for the team points lead with 18 (5g-13a). The forward is currently tied with Matt Register (3g-15a) for first place in team scoring.
KEEPING UP WITH THE JONESES:
Ontario will likely continue to focus its efforts on twin brothers Connor Jones (3g-1a against Ontario) and Kellen Jones (0g-4a against Ontario). The pair combined for the overtime-winning goal on Wednesday night, with Kellen feeding Connor for the deciding goal. Both are first and fourth, respectively, in the rookie scoring race.
