Clinton LumberKings News Release
CLINTON, IA - Pitching dominated for most of the day on Wednesday afternoon with the Clinton LumberKings coming up short in a 2-0 loss. Clinton (10-8) did not allow a base runner until the seventh inning but were shutout for the third time this season.
George Soriano started for Clinton and was untouchable through his first six innings of work. He retired the first 15 Snappers (8-10) he faced but was given a loss for his time out.

Beloit had three hits in the game all of them coming in the top of the seventh. Lester Madden led the inning off with a single, moved to second on a Cobie Vance walk, and was thrown out attempting to steal third for Soriano's last out of his assignment. Payton Squier then singled to put runners a second third and knock Soriano out of the game.

The LumberKings at the plate were shutout down by Snappers starter Daniel Martinez who retired the first 14 batters he faced. Marcos Rivera registered the first hit of the game with a double down the line at third but was left stranded.
Clinton's best chance to score came in the bottom of the seventh against Wandisson Charles. Bubba Hollins singled to lead-off the inning and Jerar Encarnacion and Sean Reynolds followed with walks to load the bases. Charles (1-0) then struck out the next three LumberKings to preserve the two-run Snappers lead.
