Philadelphia Union News Release
CHESTER, Pa. - Philadelphia Union announced today that they have signed midfielder Jesús Daniel Bueno Áñez from Deportivo Lara to a two-and-a- half-year contract with a club option for a third and fourth year in exchange for an undisclosed transfer fee. Most recently serving as team captain of Deportivo Lara, Bueno will be added to the Union's active roster following receipt of his International Transfer Certificate and P1 Visa and will occupy an international roster slot.
"Jesús is a young versatile player we have followed because of his strong potential," said Union Sporting Director Ernst Tanner. "As the captain of his former club he brings natural leadership abilities and the mentality we value, and his ability to play multiple positions will allow us to find a good fit for him in our system. We look forward to welcoming him to the team and watching him develop."
Bueno, 22, has been playing for Deportivo Lara in the first-tier Venezuelan division, Primera Division, since 2017. He has made 75 total appearances for the Venezuelan side, scoring nine goals and logging three assists in that time. Bueno has twice played in the Primera Division Championship Finals (2016, 2020), and in his most recent appearance he scored in the third minute of extra time for a 1-0 win that secured his team third place overall.
