Penguins End Of Season Awards Announced

WILKES-BARRE, PA - The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins presented their end of season awards prior to Sunday evening's home finale against the Syracuse Crunch. Following is a list of award winners:

MOST VALUABLE PLAYER AWARD - Kyle Brodziak

Awarded to the player judged to be most valuable to the team during the regular season.

PENGUIN AWARD - Jonathan Filewich

Awarded to the player who best exemplifies the qualities of determination, sportsmanship and character in the locker room and on the ice.

MOST VALUABLE DEFENSEMAN - Micki DuPont

Awarded to the defensemen who has made the largest impact on the team this season.

MOST IMPROVED PLAYER - Tom Gilbert

Awarded to the player who has made the greatest strides in his game during the season.

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR - Tyler Kennedy

Awarded to the Penguins player who is judged to have had the best first year as a professional.

MEDIA AWARD - Dennis Bonvie

Awarded to the player judged to be most cooperative with the media during the season.

LEADING SCORER - Robert Nilsson

Awarded to the player with the highest point total on the team during the regular season.

COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD - Ryan Lannon

Awarded to the player who has taken an active role in the Northeastern Pennsylvania community.

FAN FAVORITE AWARD - Tyler Kennedy

Voted on by fans on the team website (www.wbspenguins.com).

STAR OF THE YEAR AWARD - Kyle Brodziak

Awarded to the player who has collected the highest number of three-star selections during the season.

HERB BROOKS MEMORIAL AWARD - Jonathan Filewich

Awarded to the winner of the Booster Club Player of the Month award who best exemplifies the spirit and dedication to the sport that the former Penguins scout and coach showed.

The Penguins open the 2007 Calder Cup Playoffs this Friday, April 20 when they host the Norfolk Admirals at the Wachovia Arena at Casey Plaza.

Individual tickets for Games A, B and C of the opening round are available through the Wachovia Arena Box Office and at all TicketMaster locations.
