Steve Downie Joins Phantoms For Finale

PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren announced today that Steve Downie, the Flyers' first-round pick in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft, has joined the Philadelphia Phantoms and will play in the team's final game of the 2006-07 season this afternoon when the Phantoms host the Hershey Bears at 5:05.

Downie, 20, comes to Philadelphia after concluding his final Ontario Hockey League season with the Kitchener Rangers. The 5-10, 195-pound Ontario native was leading all OHL playoff scorers with 22 points on eight goals and 13 assists in the eight games he played, and had tabbed 15 penalty minutes. His combined regular season numbers between Kitchener and Peterborough included 92 points in 35 goals and 57 assists in 45 games. He logged 124 total PIM on the season.
