PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Phantoms tonight announced their annual end-of-year award winners for the 2006-07 season.

Leading Scorer - Mark Cullen

Most Coachable Player - Nate Guenin

Most Consistent Player - Mark Cullen

Barry Ashbee Award - John Slaney

Rookie of the Year - Nate Guenin

Community Service Award - Riley Cote

Fan's Choice Award - Ryan Potulny

Unsung Hero Award - Pete Zingoni

Media Award - John Slaney

Toyota Cup - Mark Cullen

Cullen leads the way with three postseason awards. Going into today's game, Cullen had 16 goals and 36 assists for 52 points. That play also earned him the Toyota Cup award, which is decided by a formula that awards five points for a first star, three for a second and one for a third. He had 28 points on the strength of three first-star awards, four second-star and one third-star.

The Phantoms coaching staff and hockey personnel selected Cullen as the most consistent player. Even after missing time with injuries, Cullen would always come back and pick up right where he left off with strong and steady offensive play.

Guenin concludes a remarkable rookie campaign with two awards, both selected by the coaches. His Rookie of the Year honors come after he not only established himself with the Phantoms this season, but also made his NHL debut with the Flyers. His progress has also earned him the Most Coachable Player award, which is given to the player who the coaches feel puts forth a strong work ethic both on and off the ice and who shows improvement throughout the season.

Cote showed again this season his willingness to spend time off the ice with the fans. Even when Cote was injured earlier this season, he often went to schools and other fan appearances with his foot in a cast. The same qualities earned Cote the Phantoms AHL Man of the Year Award, which he also received today.

Potulny picks up the Fan's Choice Award in his first professional season. The award winner is selected by the fans, and is given to the player who best represents the Phantoms style of hockey on the ice. Potulny came into training camp as a highly touted rookie and made his mark on Phantoms history this season, and also made an impact with the Flyers.

Zingoni, a free agent training camp invitee, not only made the team but impressed the fans enough to win the Unsung Hero Award. Each year, the Philadelphia Phantoms Fan Club presents the award to a player who gives 100 percent on the ice and has made significant contributions to the team.

Slaney collects his fourth Barry Ashbee Award as the team's best defenseman. His steady play on the blue line and leadership in the dressing room has been an important part of the Phantoms for seven seasons. He's also recognized by the news media that covers the Phantoms for always fulfilling postgame requests and respecting the media's need to do their job.
