
Parsons Named To CHL All-Decade Team

SOUTHAVEN, MS --- The Central Hockey League office today announced the remainder of the CHL All-Decade Team. Former Memphis RiverKings forward Don Parsons has been honored as one of the squad's All-Decade forwards on the second team.
Parsons, a native of Boston, Massachusetts, played all of part of six seasons with the Memphis RiverKings and was part of the team's back-to-back Ray Miron President's Cup championship seasons between 2001-02 and 2002-03.
During his RiverKings' career, Parsons won the 2001-02 Most Valuable Player and Playoff MVP, and also won the league Most Valuable Player award in the 2002-03 season.
Parsons was the CHL Man of the Year in 2004. He set a team record for game winning goals in a season with eight on two occasions (2001-02 and 2002-03).
Parsons holds a number of other RiverKings records, including career points scored with 552 and goals scored with 290.
His professional career began in 1991 with the old Nashville Knights of the ECHL. Parsons' playing career also includes a brief time in the American Hockey League with appearances also made in the International Hockey League and United Hockey League.
Parsons set the all-time professional career goal scoring record with the Bloomington Prairie Thunder in December of last year, when he scored his 678th career goal against Flint Generals.
The CHL previously announced the naming of current RiverKings' captain Derek Landmesser as one of the two starting defensemen on the CHL All-Decade Team.
Landmesser and the rest of the Mississippi RiverKings take the ice tonight against the Tulsa Oilers in Tulsa. Game time is 7:05 PM.
