Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release
PRESCOTT VALLEY, Arizona - Nathan Ansell's power play goal in the second period held up as the game-winner as the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees edged the Arizona Sundogs 3-2 Thursday night at Tim's Toyota Center.
RGV had a 3-0 lead on goals by Jesse Bennefield, Sean Muncy and Ansell before Arizona clawed back in the second period. Linus Fagemo scored a shorthanded goal and then Kyle Hood jammed home a power play tally to bring the Sundogs within a goal.
Andy Franck made 26 saves in goal for RGV. The Killer Bees leaped ahead of Laredo in the standings with the win and are now within a point of third place Texas.
The Killer Bees (15-11-4, 34 points) play at Arizona again on Saturday. Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m. (MST).
RGV returns home on Saturday, January 9, at 7:30 p.m. vs. Colorado. The franchise will welcome its one millionth fan that night. That fan will receive a prize pack worth over $6,000.
