
P-Bruins Defeat Sharks 4-2

Worcester, MA - The Providence Bruins defeated the Worcester Sharks 4-2 Saturday evening at the DCU Center. The P-Bruins got their goals from Zach Hamill, Brad Marchand, Jeremy Reich and Jordan Knackstedt. The first place P-Bruins are back at home at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Sunday versus the Springfield Falcons at 4:05 p.m. for Adam McQuaid Poster Night.
After a scoreless opening period, the P-Bruins took a 1-0 lead only 53 seconds into the second period. Mikko Lehtonen had the puck in the left face off circle and sent it to Reich at the blue line. He put a shot on net and the rebound went to Hamill, who slipped the puck into the net for his seventh goal of the season. Providence grabbed a 2-0 advantage at the 8:24 mark. Ned Lukacevic forced a turnover in the P-Bruins zone where Colin Hemingway found the puck and sent it ahead to Marchand giving the P-Bruins a 3-on-1 advantage. Marchand kept the puck himself and netted his 13th goal of the season. Worcester pulled within a goal at the 11:32 mark, while on the power play. Jamie McGinn tallied his 17th goal of the season, with Derek Joslin and Lukas Kaspar recording the assists. Providence went into the second intermission leading 2-1.
In the third period, the Sharks tied the game at two at the 2:25 mark. McGinn scored his second goal of the game, while Steven Zalewski and Matt Fornataro picked up the assists. It didn't take long for the P-Bruins to retake the lead. At the 2:46 mark, Lehtonen carried the puck into the zone and left it off for Matt Lashoff. He sent it to the side of the net for Reich, who netted his 16th goal of the season. The P-Bruins finished the scoring with an empty net goal at the 19:53 mark. Knackstedt tallied his eighth goal of the season, while Marchand had the lone assist. Providence went on to the 4-2 victory.
Tuukka Rask stopped 25 of 27 shots for the P-Bruins, while Taylor Dakers made 15 saves and Thomas Greiss made one save for the Sharks. The P-Bruins were 0-for-1 on the power play and 4-for-5 on the penalty kill.
