Wolf Pack Wins 2-1 in Overtime Over Pirates

Hartford, Connecticut - The Hartford Wolf Pack prevailed with a 2-1 overtime win over the Pirates at the XL Center. Jhonas Enroth made 43 saves on 45 shots but suffered the loss.

The Wolf Pack jumped on the Pirates in the first period, with the first tally coming just 3:03 into the game on a goal from Bobby Sanguinetti. Former Pirate P.A. Parenteau and Brodie Dupont got the assists on the power play goal as Hartford took a 1-0 lead. Jhonas Enroth made 14 saves on 15 first period shots as the Pirates were outshot 15-3.

In the second period, Portland finally answered when Marc-Andre Gragnani blasted a shot from the center point past Hartford goaltender Matt Zaba. Gragnani's sixth goal of the season was assisted by Mike Kostka and Aaron Slattengren at 10:13 of the second. Portland and Hartford headed into the third period tied at one. In the final frame of regulation, neither team scored and the game went to overtime.

Hartford ended the game 2:20 into overtime when Sean Avery took a shot from the left wing and Enroth kicked the puck aside, but couldn't control the rebound. Michael Sauer put it home from the bottom of the right circle and Hartford took the 2-1 overtime win.

Portland goaltender Jhonas Enroth made 43 saves on 45 shots and took the loss, dropping to 18-16-5. Hartford netminder Matt Zaba stopped 17 of 18 shots to pick up the win and improve to 13-8-0.
