Norfolk Admirals News Release

NORFOLK, Va. - Brandon Bochenski and Justin Keller each recorded a goal and an assist in the third period to propel the Admirals past the Binghamton Senators 4-2 on Saturday night at Norfolk Scope Arena. With the victory, the Admirals claimed a 2-1 "series" victory against the Senators, as the teams played each other for three consecutive games this week.

The Senators (29-20-5-3) took a two-goal lead on a pair of tallies by Greg Mauldin in the first period. Mauldin opened scoring at 11:54 when his shot from the right circle beat Norfolk netminder Riku Helenius blocker-side. Mauldin doubled the Binghamton lead to 2-0 at 17:56 when his shot from the right circle found its way under the crossbar while the teams skated at four-on-four.

The Admirals (23-26-3-5) cut their deficit in half 1:24 into the second stanza. Wade Brookbank one-timed a Blair Jones feed from the right point toward the net. Grant Potulny deflected the puck into the net behind Binghamton backstop Martin Gerber for his eighth goal of the season.

The Admirals knotted the score at two goals apiece with a Blair Jones five-on-three power play goal 14:44 into the second stanza. Mike Lundin faked a shot from the left circle before backhanding a pass to Jones at the right point. Jones one-timed the puck through traffic and into the top of the net before Gerber could react.

The third period belonged to the Admirals, as the home team out-shot the visitors 17-8 and took the lead for good. Just 3:43 into the final frame, Justin Keller centered a pass from behind the net to Brandon Bochenski in the low slot. Bochenski's shot went through Gerber's legs for his 21st goal of the season.

Keller then added an insurance tally at 11:08. Bochenski sent a long feed through the neutral zone to Keller for a partial breakaway down the left wing. Keller held the puck on his backhand before sending a shot just over the left shoulder of Gerber and just under the crossbar for his eleventh goal of the season.

Riku Helenius (26 shots, 24 saves) got the win. Martin Gerber (38 shots, 34 saves) got the loss.

Norfolk was 1-3 on the power play. Binghamton was 0-4.
