Moose drop second straight road game
February 21, 2009 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Manitoba Moose News Release
For the second night in a row the Moose were only able to score one goal, resulting in a 2-1 loss to the Milwaukee Admirals at the Bradley Center on Saturday night. Jason Krog recorded his 60th point of the season, assisting Jason Jaffray's first period goal, while goaltender Cory Schneider stopped 19 shots for his sixth loss of the season.
Former teammates Cory Schneider and Drew MacIntyre defended opposite ends of the ice as the Milwaukee Admirals and Manitoba Moose battled for the third time this season.
Milwaukee benefited from the first powerplay of the night when Josh Soares was penalized for hooking at 6:45. The Admirals found a kink in Manitoba's PK plan as Andreas Thuresson planted himself in front of the net and beat Schneider on his glove side to open the scoring.
The home team wouldn't hold onto their lead for long as Jason Jaffray tied the game at one, with help from Guillaume Desbiens and Jason Krog, a short 2:50 later.
At 14:11 Manitoba's powerplay unit made their debut thanks to Ryan Maki's hooking penalty. Despite bringing their shot count to nine, the Moose weren't able to notch a goal and play resumed to five-on-five.
Each team earned their second powerplay in the early half of the second period, but neither side could score a goal on their respective opportunities.
Leading in shots, 15-14, the Admirals translated their shot lead into a goal lead when James Sixsmith slapped the puck through the traffic and past Schneider for a 2-1 tally.
For the third time, the Admirals were on the man-advantage at 8:27 of the final frame, but the Moose ensured the home team wouldn't extend their lead any further and blocked all opposing opportunities.
In the last minute of play, the Moose pulled Schneider and opted for an extra attacker. Time expired before the Moose could score a goal and Manitoba dropped their second road game in as many nights to the Milwaukee Admirals, 2-1.
