Springfield Falcons News Release

The Springfield Falcons rallied in the third period on Saturday night and pulled off a 3-2 shootout win over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in front of 3,998 fans at the MassMutual Center. The Falcons have now collected at least a point in the standings in three straight games going 2-0-1-0 in that span heading into Sunday's matinee at Providence.

For the second time this season, the Falcons hosted a marathon shootout as Saturday's extra session went 10 rounds. The two teams were tied after five rounds, and in the eighth round, Springfield's Charles Linglet converted sending the contest to a ninth round. After a pair of Dany Sabourin saves, Shane Willis finally ended the night with his goal in round 10.

Trailing 1-0 entering the third period, Rob Schremp pulled the Falcons even at 1-1 with a power play goal at 9:03 of the final frame. Viacheslav Trukhno gave Springfield their first lead of the evening just two minutes later when he tallied his sixth goal of the year.

With the Falcons holding on to a one-goal lead, Bridgeport tied the score at 2-2 when captain Mark Wotton scored his third marker of the year.

After a scoreless first period, Bridgeport's Chris Lee opened the scoring at 3:21 of the second period with a power play goal.
