
P-Bruins Defeat Sharks 3-1 in Pre-Season Finale

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins won their final pre-season game 3-1 over the Worcester Sharks Saturday afternoon at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The P-Bruins got goals from Wayne Simpson, Zach Trotman, and Mike Moore, while Malcom Subban stopped 25 of 26 shots.
In the first period, the P-Bruins got off to a slow start with Subban having to come up with some big saves. Konrad Abeltshauser put the Sharks on the scoreboard first at the 4:51 mark of the opening period. He scored off a pass from teammate Luke Judson. Although the P-Bruins had some excellent scoring opportunities during the remainder of the period, they failed to capitalize and the Sharks took a 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
The P-Bruins tied the game at one at the 10:54 mark of the second period. Defensemen David Warsofsky made a pass across the ice to Simpson, who was able to put the puck past a sprawling J.P. Anderson. Both the P-Bruins and Sharks continued to put shots on net, but none went in until the 17:14 mark. The P-Bruins capitalized on a power play opportunity as Anthony Camara fed Trotman, who shot the puck into the back of the net. The P-Bruins led 2-1 going into the second intermission.
Providence continued its strong play in the third period. Subban came up big stopping all eight shots he faced and the P-Bruins were able to put the game away when Moore scored an empty net goal at the 19:55 mark. The Providence Bruins went onto the 3-1 victory.
The P-Bruins were 1-for-4 on the power play and 1-for-1 on the penalty kill.
The P-Bruins open up the regular season on the road in St. John's with a pair of game Friday and Saturday at 6:00pm. Opening Night at the Dunkin' Donuts Center is Friday, October 11 at 7:05pm against the Manchester Monarchs. The first 2,000 fans will receive a free clapper courtesy of Washington Trust.
