Adirondack Phantoms News Release
The Adirondack Phantoms have announced that forward Chris VandeVelde has been assigned to the team by the Philadelphia Flyers. The transaction boosts the Phantoms' training camp roster to 35 players.
VandeVelde signed an AHL contract with the Phantoms a couple of weeks ago but caught some attention during Philadelphia Flyers training camp and was among the last cut from the team. The 26 year old from Morrhead, MN is a lefty shot. VandeVelde will wear #39 with the Phantoms.
The fourth-round selection of the Edmonton Oilers in 2005 has spent the past four seasons in their organization, mostly with Oklahoma City of the AHL. He was a four-year standout at the University of North Dakota from 2006-2010. Last year, VandeVelde played in 57 games with Oklahoma City scoring 7-13-20. He also saw action in 11 games with Edmonton registering no points. He has 28 career NHL games, all with Edmonton, scoring 1-2-3.
