Albany Devils News Release

GLENS FALLS, NY -- Coming off four wins last season at Glens Falls Civic Center, the Albany Devils continued their success with a 3-2 victory against the Adirondack Phantoms Saturday. The game was the Devils final preseason game before beginning the regular season next weekend.

Harri Pesonen registered a pair of goals, which were both setup by Brandon Burlon. Ben Thomson also scored and goaltender Maxime Clermont turned aside 29 shots.

The Devils opened the scoring 7:42 into the contest when Burlon sent a pass from the defensive zone to the far blue line, springing Pesonen. After shedding a Phantoms defender, Pesonen went five hole on Cal Heeter.

Moments later Adirondack's Brandon Manning scored on a one-timer high in the slot. The power-play goal came at 9:32.

In the second, Jon Merrill's saucer pass found Eric Gelinas at the left point. He sent a floater towards the net and Thomson's redirect gave Albany a 2-1 lead at 6:12.

A couple of carry-over penalties gave the Devils a man advantage early in the third. After the first infraction was served, Pesonen increased Albany's lead 38 seconds into the period. He accepted a pass from Burlon and beat Heater short side along the ice.

At 6:24, Jason Akeson's clapper from the slot, concluded the scoring.

Albany was outshot 31-21 and went 1-6 on the power play, while Adirondack went 1-4.
