P-Bruins Defeat River Rats 2-1 in OT

Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins defeated the Albany River Rats 2-1 in overtime Friday evening at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. The P-Bruins got goals from Nathan Robinson and Pascal Pelletier. The P-Bruins are now 28-19-1-2 on the season, 59 points and in fourth place in the Atlantic Division.

The P-Bruins took a 1-0 lead in the opening period at the 9:59 mark. Pelletier put a shot on net, which was stopped by River Rats goaltender Frank Doyle. The rebound came to Robinson and he snuck the puck past Doyle to give the P-Bruins a 1-0 lead heading into the first intermission.

After a scoreless second period the River Rats tied the game at one late in the third period. Nicklas Bergfors fed Aleksander Suglobov who skated in between the circles and shot the puck past Providence netminder Jordan Sigalet blocker side. The game headed into overtime tied at one.

In the extra session David Lundbohm held the puck behind the River Rats net where he dropped it off for Jordan Sigalet. Sigalet skated the puck far circle where he made a perfect pass to Pelletier who was waiting just outside the crease. Pelletier flipped the puck past Doyle as the P-Bruins went onto a 2-1 overtime victory.

Sigalet stopped 26 of 27 shots for the P-Bruins, while Doyle stopped 28 of 30 for the River Rats. The P-Bruins were 0 for 5 on the power play, while Albany was 0 for 4 on the man-advantage.

The P-Bruins hit the road Saturday, February 11 to face the Manchester Monarchs at the Verizon Wireless Arena at 7:35 p.m. The P-Bruins return home to the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday, February 17 to face the Portland Pirates at 7:05 p.m. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive Providence Bruins key chains courtesy of your New England Dodge dealers.
