Milwaukee Admirals News Release

Milwaukee, WI- Special teams was the order of the night on Friday at the Bradley Center as the Admirals used two power-play goals and short-handed goal to top the Iowa Stars 3-2.

Simon Gamache put the Admirals up 1-0 at the 8:49 mark of the first period when he scored a power-play goal on assists from Sheldon Brookbank and Kris Beech. Beech settled a loose puck in front of Iowa goaltender Dan Ellis and sent it back to Brookbank on the point. Brookbank faked a shot and fired a pass to Gamache who was all alone on the right post and knocked it into the back of the net.

The second period saw the Stars tie the score twice, and each time the Admirals would answer. After Krys Barch tied the score at one, Milwaukee Kris Beech picked up a short-handed goal to give the Ads the lead again at 2-1. After an Iowa turnover at center ice Darren Haydar found the puck, fired to Beech who went in all alone on Ellis and scored his 14th goal of the season.

The Milwaukee lead didn't last long, however, as Vojtech Plak tied the scored at two when he beat goalie Pekka Rinne on assist from Marius Holtet and Shawn Belle at 17:08 of the second. Jordin Tootoo would give the Ads the lead for good just 43 seconds later when he registered a power play goal at the 17:51 mark of the third.

The third period saw a lot of action, but no scoring as the Admirals surrendered just four third period shots.

Rinne made 25 saves to pick up the win and run his record to 22-12-1 on the season. Brookbank had two assists to pace the Milwaukee offense.

The Admirals and Stars play the second half of their home-and-home set tomorrow night in Iowa before coming back to the Bradley Center for a 4:00 pm game versus the Chicago Wolves on Sunday afternoon. The first 3,000 fans will receive a goalie water bottle courtesy of WM Recycle America. For tickets fans can call Ticketmaster at (414) 276-4545 or log onto www.ticketmaster.com.
