In the opening period, the Phantoms took the 1-0 lead only 1:08 into the game. The P-Bruins turned the puck over in their own end and Denis Tolpeko scored from the high slot unassisted. Philadelphia went into the first intermission with a 1-0 lead.
In the second period, the P-Bruins answered back. At the 1:51 mark Ben Walter sent a centering pass to Trevelyan parked in between the circles. The P-Bruins took a two goal lead at the 7:18 mark of the third period. The P-Bruins cleared the puck out of their zone and it was a foot race after the loose puck. Karsums got to the puck first and while in full stride lifted the puck over the shoulder of Houle and into the net. Zinger had the lone assist. The Phantoms battled back to tie the game at three and send it into overtime. At the 17:26 Tolpeko netted his second goal of the game with Matt Davis and Niko Dimitrakos getting the assists.
