Norfolk, VA - Carl Corazzini scored his second of the night in the final minute of regulation to lift the Norfolk Admirals (23-7-4-1) to a 4-3 victory over the Lowell Devils (16-15-2-1) at the Norfolk Scope Friday night.
Neither team lit the lamp in the first period, with the Admirals pacing the attack. They held a 13-4 shot advantage in the opening frame over the Devils, with rookie Jordan Parise getting the start in net for Lowell.
The offense exploded in the second. Norfolk took the lead just 30 seconds into the middle frame on a goal by Adam Burish. Rod Pelley tied the game at 7:37 of the second, burying a setup by Stephen Gionta. The Admirals again took the lead later in the period, scoring twice to make it a 3-1 advantage. Patrick Davis pulled Lowell back within a goal in the final minute of the period, getting his fifth of the season to make it 3-2 after 40 minutes.
The Devils fought off the Norfolk attack early in the third, at one point killing off a 5-on-3 that lasted nearly a full minute. Lowell tied it up when Andy Greene netted his third of the season at 13:03, finishing off a 2-on-1 with David Clarkson. Lowell pressured late to capitalize from their momentum, but with less than a minute to go until overtime the Admirals took the wind out of the Devils sails. Corazzini took advantage of a breakdown and raced in alone on Parise, beating the Devils netminder for his second of the night a! nd the game winner at 19:17.
