Grand Rapids Griffins News Release

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Detroit Red Wings on Friday assigned forward Josh Langfeld to the Grand Rapids Griffins.

The 29-year-old Langfeld, Grand Rapids' second-leading scorer with 25 points (9-16-25) in 30 games, was recalled by Detroit following the Griffins' 4-3 loss to Peoria on Tuesday. He earned an assist in Wednesday's 3-1 win over Minnesota, his first point with the parent club this season, then skated in last night's 7-4 victory at Columbus. In four games with the Red Wings, he shows two penalty minutes and a plus-one rating to go with that assist, and he's averaged 5:40 in ice time.

Langfeld is expected to play his fourth game in as many nights this evening, when the Griffins stage the first of three consecutive contests to close out 2006. They'll visit the Bradley Center for an 8 p.m. EST faceoff against the Milwaukee Admirals.
