
P-Bruins Defeat Monarchs 7-2

Providence, R.I. - The Providence Bruins defeated the Manchester Monarchs 7-2 Friday evening at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. Matt Fraser recorded a hat trick while David Warsofsky, Craig Cunningham, Alexander Khokhlachev and Tommy Cross each scored a goal. Niklas Svedberg had 25 saves for the victory.
In the first period, Providence scored first, while on the power play. At the 7:55 mark, Warsofsky scored his first goal of the season on a quick wrist shot off a feed from defensive partner Zach Trotman. Khokhlachev picked up the second assist. Manchester answered back shortly after at the 8:42 mark. Nick Shore who was waiting next to Svedberg's glove side caught the rebound off a shot from the point and slid the puck into the net. It was Shore's third goal of the season and teammates Scott Sabourin and Colin Miller were awarded the assists. The Monarchs dominated the latter half of the first and capitalized again when Sabourin scored his seventh goal of the season at the 16:36 mark. Maxim Kitsyn and Chris Huxley had the assists. Manchester led 2-1 going into the first intermission.
In the second, the P-Bruins tied the game at the 10:56 mark. Fraser was standing at the front of the net and picked up a bouncing puck to find an opening and tie the game at two. It was Fraser's 13th goal of the season and linemates Ryan Spooner and Nick Johnson recorded the assists. The game went into the second intermission tied at two.
The P-Bruins carried the momentum into the third when at the 1:13 mark Cunningham found the puck in the slot and shot it into the net for his ninth goal of the season. Warsofsky and Matt Lindblad grabbed the assists. Fraser struck again off a pretty play by teammates Lindblad and Johnson at the 6:37 mark to give the P-Bruins a 4-2 lead. The door opened again nearly a minute later at the 7:35 mark when Khokhlachev tallied his sixth goal of the season by deflecting the puck off a wrist shot from Warsofsky. Cunningham had the second assist. Providence continued to pour on the scoring tallying again at the 12:20 mark to make it 6-2. Cross scored his third of the season off a hard shot from the point. Bobby Robins and Anthony Camara both recorded the helpers. The P-Bruins finished off the scoring at the 17:31 mark on their second power play goal of the night. Fraser tallied to get the hat trick, with Spooner and Joe Morrow getting the assists on the play. The P-Bruins cruised to the 7-2 victory.
Svedberg stopped 25 of 27 shots for the P-Bruins, while Jean-Francois Berube made 26 saves for the Monarchs. The P-Bruins went 2-for-3 on the power play and 1-for-1 on the penalty kill.
