
Ouellette Paces Gladiators to Win over IceMen

DULUTH, GA - Martin Ouellette stopped 28 of 29 shots to guide the Atlanta Gladiators to ta 4-1 victory over the Jacksonville Icemen at Infinite Energy Arena Saturday night.
After a scoreless first, Atlanta used a 5-on-3 power play to assume a 1-0 lead in early in the second period. Eric Neiley led a 2-on-1 rush into the zone and set up a one-timed shot for Avery Petersen to the right of the slot. Petersen hammered the shot into the net for the tally.
Jacksonville evened the score at 14:50 with a 2-on-1 rush of their own. Mike Hedden lobbed a pass to Graeme Craig who cut to the top of the crease and slipped a backhanded shot through the five-hole of Martin Ouellette for the tying tally.
Atlanta responded four minutes later when veteran Derek Nesbitt rifled a slapshot past Carlson to give the Gladiators a 2-1 edge. Atlanta extended its lead just 45 seconsd later when Dante Hannoun cruised to the slot and carved a backhand shot over the shoulder of Carlson to give the Gladiators a 3-1 lead at the end of the second period.
Luke Nogard added a fourth Atlanta goal, scoring on a breakaway after exiting the penalty box to propel his team to the eventual final score of 4-1. Icemen goaltender Adam Carlson took the loss in goal despite making 39 saves.
The Icemen will now return home to play host to the Greenville Swamp Rabbits this Wednesday at Veterans Memorial Arena. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. Fans can enjoy $2 select beer and wine throughout the night!
