
Orioles Recall Birkins, Option Doyne to Norfolk

The Orioles today announced that they have recalled LHP Kurt Birkins from AAA Norfolk and optioned RHP Cory Doyne to Norfolk. Birkins will be in uniform for tonight's game at Tampa Bay.
This is Birkins' 4th recall by the Orioles this season. He has appeared in 4 games on his earlier stints, going 0-1 with a 10.00 ERA in 9.0 innings pitched. At Norfolk, where he was primarily a starter, he was 6-4 with a 3.34 ERA in 17 games.
Doyne has appeared in 5 games for the Orioles, pitching 3.2 innings with no record and a 14.73 ERA. At Norfolk, he has gone 0-1 with 29 saves and a 2.23 ERA in 42 games.
