Richmond, VA - The Richmond Braves beat the Indianapolis Indians 9-2 Friday at The Diamond. Barbaro Canizares had the Braves first five hit game of the season to lead a 16 hit attack as the Braves gained a split of the four game series.
Richmond scored twice in the first on a two run double by Canizares. Adam Boeve homered in the second to cut the Braves lead to 2-1. Richmond tacked on three more runs in the fifth. Brent Lillibridge knocked in a run with a double and Iker Franco singled two home. The Braves opened up a 7-1 lead in the sixth on a run-scoring double by Canizares and an RBI single by Lillibridge. The Indians Luis Ordaz drilled a solo home run in the eighth. Richmond scored twice more in the home half. Lillibridge doubled a run in and Wes Timmons chased a run home with a single.
Jeff Bennett earned the win. Ryan Basner pitched four innings for the save. Marty McLeary took the loss. Canizares had a Braves season high three doubles and three RBI. Lillibridge had four hits and three RBI. Boeve and Ordaz had two hits for the Indians.
