Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

PAPILLION, Neb. - The Omaha Storm Chasers (21-20) took down the St. Paul Saints (16-21) 8-6 in the final game of the six-game series at home.

The Saints tallied the first score of the game, putting up four in the opening half-inning. The Storm Chasers answered immediately, putting up some runs of their own in the bottom of the frame. SS Iván Castillo started the rally with a single into right field before 1B Nick Pratto walked to put runners on first and second with nobody away. DH Vinnie Pasquantino and RF Brewer Hicklen hit back-to-back RBI doubles to put the Storm Chasers on the board but after one the Saints led 4-3.

Omaha came out in the second and knotted the score 4-4. To start the inning, 3B Jimmy Govern hit a single into left and LF Angelo Castellano moved him over on a sacrifice bunt. Castillo would come up and score Govern from second, but a lineout and a caught stealing ended the Storm Chasers run.

Leading off the sixth, Pasquantino hit a rocket into deep right field with a projected home run distance of 448 feet to give Omaha its first lead of the game 5-4.

RHP Daniel Mengden (Win, 3-3) worked around the four-run first inning to throw 6.0 innings with seven strikeouts and just two walks. The 6.0 innings is a season high for Mengden who has a combined 16 strikeouts in two starts this series against St. Paul.

The Storm Chasers came out in the seventh and put up a few more runs. Govern hit an infield single to start the inning and Castellano was hit by a pitch to put runners at first and second with no outs. Pratto hit a single that would score Govern before Pasquantino hit a two-out single to push Omaha's lead to 8-4.

St. Paul responded with two in the eighth to cut the Storm Chasers lead to 8-6. Omaha had runners on in the bottom of the frame when 2B Clay Dungan reached on a St. Paul throwing error and Govern drew a walk. Castellano juiced the bases with a one-out walk to bring up the top of the order, but a pair of strikeouts ended the inning with the bases loaded.

RHP Arodys Vizcaíno got his seventh save of the year as Omaha stranded two St. Paul runners in scoring position to take the get-out game

The Storm Chasers hit the road in for a six-game series at Louisville. First pitch on Tuesday is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. CT from Louisville Slugger Field. Coverage begins at 4:45 p.m. with the Sarpy County Tourism Pregame Show on 1180 The Zone. After the series with Louisville, Omaha will return to Werner Park for a series with Indianapolis.
