Today's Game: After having Wednesday off, the Oklahoma City Dodgers open a four-game road series against the Nashville Sounds at 7:05 p.m. at First Tennessee Park. The Dodgers have lost back-to-back games for the first time since June 9-10.
Last Game: The Iowa Cubs took the rubber match of a five-game series against the Dodgers with a 3-2 win Tuesday afternoon at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Iowa grabbed the game's first lead in the top of the second inning. With heavy rain beginning to fall, Matt Murton scored from third base on a wild pitch by Hyun-Jin Ryu for a 1-0 I-Cubs lead. Shortly thereafter, play was halted and finally resumed after a delay of 2 hours, 13 minutes in order to make the field playable again. The Dodgers tied the game in the bottom of the second inning when O'Koyea Dickson scored from third base on a balk by Iowa pitcher Aaron Brooks. In the top of the fifth, rehabbing Chicago Cubs infielder Tommy La Stella hit a RBI single on a grounder into right field to break the tie and give Iowa a 2-1 lead. In the top of the sixth, a sacrifice fly by Munenori Kawasaki gave Iowa a 3-1 advantage. Iowa loaded the bases in the top of the ninth with one out. With no more pitchers available, OKC outfielder Alex Hassan pitched and induced two flyouts to escape the jam. Dickson hit a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth to cut Iowa's lead to 3-2 with two outs before Felix Pena (SV, 2) got Zach Walters to ground out and end the game. Ross Stripling (0-1) appeared in his first game off the disabled list and was charged with the loss (2.1 IP, 3 H, 2 ER, BB, 2 K). Brooks (1-1) allowed one run and four hits over four innings to capture the win.
