Iowa Cubs News Release

DES MOINES - Iowa Cubs first baseman Daniel Vogelbach and right-handed reliever Armando Rivero were selected to the Pacific Coast League All-Star Team, the league announced Thursday. The 2016 Triple-A All-Star Game will be hosted by the International League Charlotte Knights in Charlotte, N.C. on Wednesday, July 13.

Vogelbach is hitting .308 in his Triple-A rookie season and adds a .556 slugging percentage and a .978 OPS. He ranks among the league's best in several offensive categories, tying for third in home runs (15) and walks (47) and for fourth in RBI (55), while placing fifth in on-base percentage (.422).

This marks Vogelbach's third All-Star selection as he was previously selected to the Midwest League mid-season All-Star team with Single-A Kane County in 2013 and the Southern League mid-season All-Star team with Double-A Tennessee in 2015.

Rivero earns his second career All-Star selection, as he represented Tennessee at the Southern League mid-season All-Star Game in 2014. The 28-year-old holds a 2.39 ERA and a 3-1 record with Iowa this season. Among PCL relievers, Rivero ranks third in lowest opponent batting average (.173) and fourth in highest strikeout-to-walk ratio (11.71). He also paces I-Cub relievers with 49 strikeouts through 37.2 innings pitched.

The 29th annual Triple-A All-Star Game will be televised live on MLB Network at 6 p.m. CT and is available online to MiLB.TV subscribers. In addition, the game call will be simulcast on MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM Channel 89.
