Today's Game: The Oklahoma City Dodgers and Round Rock Express meet for the third time in their four-game series at 6:05 p.m. at Dell Diamond...The Dodgers have lost three straight road games, as well as six of the last seven games away from OKC.
Last Game: Round Rock hit five home runs, including three by Jack Mayfield, slugging their way past the Dodgers, 13-3, Friday night at Dell Diamond. The Dodgers took a 1-0 lead two batters into the game when Austin Barnes deposited a solo home run into the second deck in left field. But the Express took the lead on Mayfield's first two-run shot of the night in the bottom of the inning. Chas McCormick added a sacrifice fly to make it 3-1. Leading off the bottom of the second, Alex De Goti jumped on the first pitch and hit a home run. The Express homered for the third time in three innings when Taylor Jones hit a two-run shot to left field, pushing Round Rock's lead to 6-1. A RBI groundout by Cameron Perkins in the fourth inning pulled the Dodgers back within four runs. The Express put the game away with a five-run bottom of the seventh, tallying five more hits, including a homer by Mayfield. Mayfield completed his trifecta in the eighth, giving Round Rock a 13-2 lead. Perkins added a solo homer in the ninth. Round Rock starting pitcher Ryan Hartman (6-5) earned the win, holding OKC to two runs and five hits over six innings. Dodgers starting pitcher Logan Bawcom (1-2) took the loss.
Today's Probable Pitcher: Daniel Corcino (8-5) makes his 17th start of the season tonight, which will move him into a tie for the team lead...Corcino was charged with the loss in his last start Aug. 10 against Reno in OKC. He allowed five runs and five hits over 5.0 innings with four walks and tied his season high with eight strikeouts in OKC's 6-1 defeat. All five runs scored on a trio of homers...Over his last two outings, Corcino has allowed 13 runs and 14 hits over 10.2 IP, including eight home runs. It's a turnaround from his outstanding month of July, when Corcino went 3-1 with a 2.40 ERA and 1.03 WHIP. He allowed 10 runs (eight earned) and 20 hits over a combined 30.0 IP with 11 walks, 19 K's and a .183 opponent average. During the month, Corcino ranked second among PCL qualified pitchers in ERA, second in opponent average and third in WHIP...For the season, Corcino ranks among PCL leaders with a .244 AVG (T-3rd), 1.34 WHIP (6th), 4.69 ERA (6th), .620 winning percentage (T-6th) and eight wins (T-8th)...Corcino spent most of 2018 with OKC, tying for the club lead in starts (19) and ranking second in innings (103.1) and K's (102)...He was originally signed as an amateur free agent with the Reds Jan. 11, 2008 and began his second stint in the Dodgers organization after signing as a free agent May 11, 2017...Corcino's only meeting with Round Rock this season was July 4 at home. He held the Express to two runs and three hits over 6.0 innings, tied his season high with five walks, recorded four K's and picked up the win in OKC's 13-7 victory.
Against the Express: 2019: 5-9 2018: 10-6 All-time: 129-107 At RR: 66-51 The Dodgers and Express are meeting for their fourth and final series of 2019. The Express have gone 23-10 since July 7 and currently own a 2.5-game lead over San Antonio for first place in the American Southern Division...It's been a streaky season series, with Round Rock winning the first six meetings before the Dodgers won the next five straight prior to Round Rock winning the last three. Round Rock's six-game win streak against OKC earlier this season marked the first time they had won six straight over OKC since 2006...The Express have outscored OKC, 91-66, and outhit OKC, 137-99...With last night's win, Round Rock clinched a season series victory over OKC for the first time since 2014 and for the second time over the last eight seasons. Additionally, OKC will finish the season with a losing record at Dell Diamond for the first time since 2009 and for just the third time since the teams began playing each other in 2005.
Simply De-Lux: Gavin Lux went 0-for-4 last night, ending his impressive 50-game on-base streak. Entering Friday, Lux owned the longest current on-base streak in professional baseball, having reached base safely in each of his first 37 Triple-A games in addition to his final 13 games with Double-A Tulsa. The streak stands as the third-longest in the PCL overall this season, and last night marked the first time since June 8 vs. Arkansas he did not reach base...Since joining OKC June 27, Lux is slashing .419/.503/.775/1.278. He has 67 hits, 20 multi-hit games, 31 XBH, 33 RBI and 48 runs scored. During that time, Lux's AVG, OBP, OPS, hits and runs scored are the best, or tied for first, among all players in the domestic Minors or Majors, while his 124 total bases are third and his extra-base hits and SLG are tied for sixth...He was named PCL Player of the Month for July, becoming the first OKC player to receive a PCL monthly honor since MLBAM began tracking the awards in 2010...Between OKC and Tulsa, Lux is batting .353 and his 148 total hits are tied for third in the domestic Minors.
Light Switch Offense: Last night marked the fourth time in six games the Dodgers were held to three or fewer runs and six or fewer hits. The team is 2-4 over its last six games, and in the four losses, the Dodgers have batted just .126 (15x119) with nine runs and a 2-for-20 clip with runners in scoring position. In the two wins, the Dodgers have batted .397 (27x68) with 22 runs and are 13-for-25 with RISP...Despite the recent inconsistency, the Dodgers have been one of the PCL's best offensive teams over the last month. Since the All-Star Break, the Dodgers are second in the PCL in runs (248), home runs (73), RBI (237), walks (156), SLG (.558) and OPS (.944). Over the 33 games following the break, OKC has scored nine or more runs in 14 games and tallied double-digit hits in 21 games.
Zach Attack: Zach McKinstry went 1-for-3 last night and has now hit safely in 10 of his first 11 games with OKC, going 18-for-39 (.462) with four doubles, a triple, four homers, 14 RBI and 10 runs scored...Going back to July 25 with Double-A Tulsa, McKinstry has hit safely in 17 of his last 19 games, batting .477 (31x65) with a .541 OBP, .769 SLG and 18 RBI.
Dinger Details: The Dodgers hit two homers last night, and since July 1, they are tied for the second-most homers in all of professional baseball with the New York Yankees (84 HR), trailing only Las Vegas (95 HR). OKC has hit at least one home run in 31 of the last 36 games...On the other hand, the Express hit five homers last night, tying OKC's season high and marking the sixth time in the last 18 games the Dodgers have allowed four or more homers. Jack Mayfield went deep three times last night, hitting two-run homers in the first, seventh and eighth innings. Mayfield became the third Oklahoma City opponent since July 27 to hit three homers in a game, as well as the second in the last three games. Prior to July 27, the last OKC opponent to homer three times in one game was Iowa's Bryan LaHair on July 31, 2010 - a span of 1,281 games...The Dodgers have allowed 18 home runs over the last seven games, and the 43 homers they've allowed since July 27 are the most in the Minors (18 G)...The Dodgers have already established single-season team records with 184 homers hit (previously 171 in 2005) and 178 homers allowed (previously 153 in 2004).
Mound Maladies: Last night marked the sixth time in 14 games this month the Dodgers allowed 10 or more runs. Opponents have totaled 101 runs and 144 hits, with 37 homers and 63 extra-base hits, batting .298 overall (144x484). During that time, OKC starting pitchers have combined to allow 67 runs (64 ER) and 92 hits, including 27 homers, over 72.2 innings with opponents batting .313 (92x294)...Last night the bullpen surrendered seven runs and six hits over 3.0 innings after allowing just allowing seven runs and 17 hits over the previous eight games, spanning 26.2 innings.
Around the Horn: Austin Barnes hit his team-leading sixth homer of August last night. Nine of his 16 hits over 13 games with OKC have gone for extra bases...The Dodgers are 1-6 over the last seven road games with a -29 run differential after going 21-9 with a +95 run differential in their previous 30 road contests...OKC's pitching staff paces the PCL with 1,135 strikeouts this season. The Dodgers are on pace for 1,302 K's this season, which would surpass the team record of 1,277 set in 2017.
