Oilers Sneak Past Thunder

WICHITA, KS- The Wichita Thunder lost 5-3 to the Tulsa Oilers at the INTRUST Bank Arena on Friday night.

Tulsa's Chad Costello broke a 3-3 tie with a power play goal at 16:49 in the third period and then sealed the game for the Oilers with an empty net goal with 2.5 seconds left on the clock. The pair of goals spoiled Wichita's third period comeback in which they recovered from a 3-1 deficit to tie the game.

Lance Galbraith pulled the Thunder within 3-2 at 5:23, re-directing Chris Greene's shot from the high slot. Matt Robinson tied the game 1:25 later, burying a rebound to the left of Oilers' goaltender Ian Keserich.

Andrew Martens extended his pointstreak to six consecutive games with a slapshot score just 2:33 into the game. Martens picked up a feed from Troy Schwab and scored from the left circle on a puck that came straight down after hitting the bottom of the crossbar. Michel Beausolei tied the game on a wraparound with 13 seconds left on the clock in the opening period. Tulsa went in front 2-1 at 3:33 in the third when Evan Kotsopoulos drove in a rebound to the right of Gelinas from the left hashmark.

Marc-Antoine Gelinas took the loss, saving 26 of 30. Keserich earned the win, stopping 33 of 36. Wichita was 0 for 3 on the power play while Tulsa was 1 for 7.
