
Bucks Fall to 'Jacks 7-4

ODESSA, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League fell to the Odessa Jackalopes 7-4 Friday night at the Ector County Coliseum. The Bucks winless streak increases to three games (0-2-1) as they fall to 9-11-4 (22 points).
The Jackalopes would jump out to a 2-0 lead 10:13 into the game. Alex Dunn put Odessa on top 1-0 at the 6:41 mark of the first when he scored from the bottom of the right circle to pick up his fourth of the season.
Odessa (11-13-1, 23 points) would increase their lead to 2-0 at the 10:13 mark of the first when Kenny Corupe jammed in a rebound from the right side of the crease on the power-play. The strike was Corupe's 10th of the year.
The Bucks would cut the Jackalopes lead to 2-1 with 6:58 left in the first when Reid Edmondson scored a wraparound goal from the bottom of the right circle. The goal was Edmondson's third of the season and second in the last three games.
Laredo (4-5-2 on the road) was outshot 15-11 in the first period.
The second period was full of scoring as Odessa had three goals with Laredo picking up two.
The Jackalopes would increase their lead to 3-1 just 1:03 into the second when Darryl Bootland stuffed in a shot from the right side of the crease to net his fourth of the season.
Odessa would go up 4-1 at the 12:38 mark of the second when Jeff Pierce struck on the power-play on the right side of the crease. The goal was Pierce's 11th of the year.
Laredo would scored back to back power-play goals to cut the Odessa lead to 4-3 with less than two minutes left in the period.
Daniel Koger scored from an odd angle at the end line with 4:58 left in the second to cut Odessa's lead to 4-2.
The Bucks would pull to within 4-3 with just 2:16 left in the second when Koger scored a five-on-three goal as he redirected a pass right in front of the net to score his second of the game and team-leading 14th of the season.
Odessa went up 5-3 with just 53 seconds left in the second when Mike Ramsay scored on a three-on-one break to net his 11th of the campaign.
Each team put up nine shots in the second period.
Bootland (4:30) and Justin Sawyer (12:57) put the Jackalopes up 7-3 in the third period. Bootland picked up two goals on the night.
Neil Trimm scored with 6:17 left to make it 7-4 Odessa. It was Trimm's ninth of the season.
Laredo was outshot 13-12 in the third period and 39-32 in the game.
Joel Martin stopped 28 of 32 shots in the Odessa net while Pier Pelletier set aside 32 of 39.
