Allen's Dwight Mullins Earns All-Star Coaching Position

December 17, 2010 - Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release

TEMPE, AZ (December 17, 2010) - The Central Hockey League (CHL) announced today that Allen Americans Head Coach Dwight Mullins will serve as one of the co-coaches for the 2011 CHL All-Star Team thanks to his team clinching the highest winning percentage in the Berry Conference prior to December 24. The clinching game came on Friday night, a 5-3 win over the Texas Brahmas. The Americans are in first place in the conference at 18-4-1 sitting with a .804 win percentage with two games left to play before Christmas Eve.

This year ‚¬â„¢s all-star format features the host Rapid City Rush, coached by Joe Ferras, taking on a team of CHL All-Stars comprised of players from the remaining 17 CHL teams. The game is scheduled for Wednesday, January 12 at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center Arena in Rapid City, South Dakota.

Mullins is coaching in his second professional season after guiding the then expansion Americans to the Ray Miron Presidents ‚¬â„¢ Cup Finals in his first season. The Americans lost in the Finals to the Rush in a dramatic double overtime Game Six.

The second co-coach will be determined by the Turner Conference coach whose team has the highest winning percentage after the games on December 23. Currently leading that charge with a win percentage of .636 is Colorado ‚¬â„¢s bench boss, Chris Stewart.

The 19-man playing roster for the CHL All-Star team will be made up of at least one representative per team with the starting line-up and reserves announced in the coming weeks. The starters will be determined by voting from CHL coaches, CHL Communication ‚¬â„¢s staff members and broadcasters along with select media members from CHL markets.
