TONIGHT'S MATCHUP
The Oilers meet the Cincinnati Cyclones for the first time in club history and the only time this season. The Cyclones and Oilers are tied in the ECHL Western Conference standings at 61 points. Cincinnati has one extra game played on Tulsa.
Each have had success 28 times this season (19 each at home). Jack Downing leads the Cyclones with 26 goals.
PLAYOFF WATCH
The Oilers are currently ranked 6th in the Western Conference (12th Overall), a spot that puts them in playoff position if the season ended today. Of the next two teams Tulsa faces, both of them hold a spot above the Oilers. Tonight the Oilers will face the team directly below them at 7th, the Cyclones.
TULSA TRADE
The Tulsa Oilers announced Wednesday that they have acquired forward Andrew Johnston from the Indy Fuel to complete the trade of Brandon Wong and Trevor Campbell on February 8, 2016.
Johnston, 24, began the 2015-16 campaign with the South Carolina Stingrays where he produced four points (2 goals and 2 assists) before his time with the Fuel. While in Indy, he skated in 12
contests tallying two assists and two penalty minutes.
The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native has spent 50 games in the American Hockey League with the Adirondack Phantoms/Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
RED HOT AT HOME
The Oilers power play may be 28th in the ECHL on the road, but at home they rank 8th with a 19.3 percentage. Tulsa has capitalized on 23 of 174 opportunities this season.
EXTRA DROPS
Kevin Carr is 8th among ECHL goaltenders with a 2.20 goals against average and second in minutes (2313)... Phil Brewer is tied for first in rookie shootout goals with two...
