Manchester Monarchs News Release
HEAD-TO-HEAD - The Monarchs and Admirals will clash for the eighth time this season, with the Monarchs getting the best of Norfolk so far this season, heading into tonight's meeting with a 5-0-1-1 record against their division rivals. Despite their impressive record against the Admirals, the Monarchs have dropped the last two games the teams have played, both coming from the Jungle. The Monarchs enter tonight's game 7-3-0-0 in their last 10 games while Norfolk checks in at 4-5-1-0 in their last 10.
WHERE WE STAND - The Monarchs (73 points) sit atop the East Division, eight points clear of the Adirondack Thunder, and are in first place in the Eastern Conference, leading the Florida Everblades by three points. Manchester enters tonight 26 points ahead of the Admirals in the division.
LIGHT UP THE SCOREBOARD - The goal judges have gotten a workout when the Monarchs and Admirals have met this season, lighting the lamps 47 times. To date, the Monarchs have scored 27 goals (3.86 goals/game) against the Admirals while Norfolk has netted 20 goals (2.86 goals/game) on the Monarchs in the seven previous contests. Tonight's game should be much of the same, with Manchester averaging 3.2 goals a game and Norfolk giving up an average of 3.3 goals a contest.
PUCKS ON NET - The Monarchs will most likely pepper the Norfolk goaltender with shots tonight, as the Monarchs lead the ECHL in pucks on net at 35.09 /game, while Norfolk gives up and average of 33.85/game, good for 3rd most in the league.
TAKE IT TO THE THIRD - Despite Norfolk's overall record, when the Admirals take a lead into the third period at Scope Arena, they are 6-0-0-0. The Monarchs, however, post a 12-0-0-0 record when leading after two periods away from the Verizon Wireless Arena.
FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS - Friday nights have been good to the Monarchs, with the team posting a10-1-0-1record when playing on the first night of the weekend, 6-1-0-1on the road. Norfolk is 8-5-0-1 overall on Friday nights, only 5-4-0-1 at home.
DIAMOND STREAKING - Joey Diamond is riding a four-game point streak (1g, 5a) that began Feb. 19. Diamond has been hot for a while now, scoring points in 16-of-19 games (5g, 18a).
YOU LOOK FAMILIAR - Matt Fornataro will know some faces down in Norfolk, as the former UNH captain played 161 games in parts of three seasons with the Admirals from 2009-12. Two Admirals are also familiar with the Black and Silver of the Monarchs, as Jordan Hill and Michael Pelech both played for the Monarchs at one point in their respective careers.
