Colorado Eagles News Release

(Loveland, CO) --- The Colorado Eagles defeated the Alaska Aces 3-2 in overtime Friday night at the Budweiser Events Center to claim their third consecutive win and second straight against the Aces. Eagles defenseman Adrian Veideman scored the game-winner, picking up his sixth goal in eight games, while goaltender Clarke Saunders notched 32 saves on 34 shots in the win.

The Aces struck first when the puck found its way along the boards and out to forward Peter Sivak who one-timed it into the net. Sivak's shot from the slot gave Alaska an early 1-0 lead with 16:18 to play in the first.

The lead would hold not for long, as the Eagles tied it up when forward Trent Daavettilla shot the puck in front of the net, allowing fellow forward Ludwig Karlsson to tip the puck into the goal for his eighth tally of the year at the 12:33 mark of the opening frame.

Alaska regained the lead late in the first when Aces forward Collin Valcourt scored a wrap-around goal giving the Aces a 2-1 lead with 3:01 to play in the period. The lead would hold to the first intermission.

Eagles forward Johnny Lazo scored the lone goal of the second period after a rebound escaped Alaska goaltender Jacob Deserres and jumped in front of the goal. Lazo netted the puck tying the game at 2-2 with 11:33 to play in the middle period.

After a scoreless third period, the Eagles and Aces needed overtime to settle their 2-2 deadlock.

Only 51 seconds into the extra session Veideman came off the bench and deflected a beautiful pass from Daavettila past DeSerres in the low-slot, giving the Eagles the 3-2 win.

The Eagles and Aces are back on the ice tomorrow night at the Budweiser Events Center for the final game of the three game weekend series. Puck drop is at 7:05.
