Alaska Aces News Release

LOVELAND, COLORADO - Adrian Veideman deflected a perfectly-placed pass from Trent Daavetila into the net just 55 seconds into the overtime period to give the Colorado Eagles a3-2 win over the Alaska Aces Friday at the Budweiser Events Center.

Like Wednesday when Alaska took the first lead in the game, the Aces got off to a good start again and scored Friday's first goal. Right winger Peter Sivak accepted a Stephen Perfetto centering pass and blasted a one-timer off the pipe and into the net at 7:42 of the first period, his 15th goal of the season. Perfetto received the only assist on the play.

Colorado tied the game as Daavetila, the ECHL's second-leading scorer, snapped a shot from the deep slot into the net behind Aces goaltender Jacob DeSerres for his 19th goal of the season at 12:33.

Alaska pushed back again at 16:59 as David Eddy did the heavy lifting through the neutral zone, then chased the puck down behind the Colorado net and slipped a nifty pass to the front of the net where Collin Valcout shoved it in behind Eagles goaltender Clarke Saunders. It was Valcourt's 10th goal of the season, and Ben Lake picked up a helper along with Eddy.

In the second period, Johnny Lazo wristed a shot home after Everett Sheen showed great patience with the puck in the slot, his shot blocked then Lazo finished the play, his 11th goal of the season at 8:27. The Aces out-shot the Eagles 28-16 through two periods.

No scoring in the third period, as Colorado put pressure on the Aces net, especially after a late penalty against Alaska.

The game-winning goal came just 55 seconds into the five-minute overtime period. Jake Marto hit Daavetila with a pass on the right wing, and Daavetila placed a perfect pass to the front of the net where a driving Veideman deflected the puck past DeSerres. The goal was Veideman's 12th of the season.

DeSerres finished with 20 saves...Saunders 32. The Aces outshot the Eagles 34-23 for the game.

The two teams will finish their three-game series Saturday at 5:05pm Alaska time in Loveland.

The Aces return to the Sullivan Arena on Friday, March 9 against Ft. Wayne.
