FORT WAYNE, INDIANA - The Missouri Mavericks collected three points in their short two-game series against the Fort Wayne Komets, with their Friday night contest ending in a 4-3 overtime loss.

The Missouri Mavericks trailed 2-0 heading into the third period, but rallied with back-to-back goals to tie the game up 2-2 in the first 3 minutes of the final regulation frame. Fort Wayne fought back with another goal to take the lead, but Missouri had the answering tally to send the decision to overtime.

The Mavs overwhelmingly controlled the pace of the 5-minute 3-on-3 period, but Komets right winger Alex Belzile was able to make the game-winning tally with a shot from the point in the final seconds of OT.

The Komets scored in both the first and second period to own a 2-0 lead over the Mavs at the top of the third period, but Missouri made a quick turnaround to tie the game up before three minutes had passed.

Ross Johnston made the first tally for the Mavericks when he was found all alone in front of the Fort Wayne net and took a backhand shot to best goaltender Pat Nagle just 34 seconds into the third period. Rocco Carzo was credited with the lone assist on the play.

Then at 2:56 while the Mavericks were on a power-play, Kellen Jones lit the lamp for Missouri to tie the scoreboard up 2-2 with his sixth goal of the season. Bryce Aneloski and Jesse Root assisted on the power-play goal.

Alex Belzile took back the lead for Fort Wayne with the Komets own man-advantage goal, at 6:29. Defeseman Matt Finn would be the one to tie the game up once more for the Mavs and send the result to overtime. Finn's eighth goal of the season was an unassisted blast from the point at 18:31.

Missouri battled through overtime with an aggressive fervor, but Belzile was able to notch the game-winning goal for Fort Wayne in the final seven seconds of the extra frame.

Parker Milner made 30 saves between the pipes for the Mavericks through just shy of sixty-five minutes of play. His 6-game win streak (since his return from loan to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers - AHL) came to a close Friday night with the overtime loss.
