Edmonton Oil Kings News Release

EDMONTON, ALTA. - The Edmonton Oil Kings have acquired goaltender Payton Lee from the Vancouver Giants, general manager Randy Hansch announced Thursday. In exchange, the Oil Kings have sent Vancouver a sixth round pick in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft.

Lee, 19, has a 3.36 goals-against average and .896 save percentage in 11 games with the Giants this season. The former 2nd round pick in the WHL Bantam Draft has played 140 games with the Giants over five seasons in his WHL career.

Coinciding with the move, Hansch also announced that Oil Kings goaltender Alec Dillon had been placed on long-term injured reserve with a lower-body injury, precipitating Thursday's trade.

"With Alec expected out of the lineup for a longer term, we wanted to make a move to add depth and experience alongside Patrick Dea,' Hansch said. "Patrick has played well for us this season, and we think that adding Payton will be a nice compliment as a tandem in our crease."

Lee is expected to join the Oil Kings Friday, with the potential to suit up with the team that night in Calgary.
