Wheat Kings Acquire 20 Year Old Veteran

Brandon, MB. - The Brandon Wheat Kings have acquired a 20-year old forward from the Spokane Chiefs for a conditional draft pick.

Brandon General Manager and Head Coach Kelly McCrimmon has confirmed that 6'1" 204 lb Luke Harrison will join the club after spending the past month in Spokane. The move gives the Wheat Kings four 20-year olds on their current roster, however, Tim McGauley remains out of action with an upper body injury.

"Luke will provide depth and experience to our club as we work our way through some injuries," says McCrimmon. "He plays hard, and is a respected player in the league"

In 190 career WHL games, Harrison has 19 goals and 13 assists between the Blazers, the Victoria Royals, Chilliwack Bruins and Chiefs The West Kelowna, B.C. native was originally a third round (51st overall) pick in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft.

In 69 games for the Kamloops Blazers in 2014-15, Harrison scored 12 goals and 23 points in 69 games.

Harrison could be in the Wheat Kings lineup this weekend as Brandon hosts Victoria on Friday before travelling to Swift Current to face the Broncos on Saturday.

The Wheat Kings, who are coming off a season high 8-game road trip that saw them win six games, begin the weekend with a record of 11-3-0-2.
