Brandon, MB. - Western Manitoba hockey fans rejoice!

For the first time in three weeks, the Wheat Kings will play a game at Westman Communications Group Place Friday night, when the visiting Victoria Royals pay their first visit to Brandon in three weeks.

Fresh off a season high 8-game road trip that saw the Wheat Kings win six games to improve to 11-3-0-2 on the season, the Wheat Kings will be playing their first game since Sunday afternoon when they beat the Warriors 3-2 in Moose Jaw.

Fans attending Friday's game will receive a full color 2015-16 Team Poster, compliments of Rocky Mountain Equipment.

17-year old Nolan Patrick, the Western Hockey League's Rookie of the Year in 2014-15, returns home as the club's leading scorer.

Through the team's first sixteen games, the 6'3" 195 lb Winnipeg product has six goals and 23 points and has one point more than Florida Panthers' second round draft choice Jayce Hawryluk.

Rookie netminder Logan Thompson meanwhile has won three straight games, turning aside 65 of 71 shots in the process while newly appointed captain Macoy Erkamps remains among the league leaders in scoring among defenceman with five goals and 17 points in sixteen games.

Erkamps was recently chosen the first Wheat King IMPACT Player of the Month and a presentation will be made to him during the game, which will be the first of six home games over the course of the next two weeks.

Friday's game will also feature two of Hockey Canada's National Junior Team coaches as Brandon's Kelly McCrimmon goes up against Dave Lowry of the Royals.

Speaking of the Royals, they enter the game as the top team in the WHL's B.C. Division with an impressive 12-5-0-1 record and trail Brandon by a single point in the overall standings.

Victoria has won five of its last six games (5-0-0-1) and seven of ten games played away from home.

The Royals, who are led by the likes of all star defenceman Joe Hicketts (1-18-19) and Alex Forsberg (5-16-21) are coming off Wednesday's 5-2 win over Moose Jaw. Victoria is currently giving up an average of just two goals per game through the first quarter of the regular season.
