Chiefs Trade Harrison, Pick up Petersen
November 5, 2015 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Spokane Chiefs News Release
SPOKANE, Wash. - The Spokane Chiefs announced today that they have traded 20-year-old forward Luke Harrison to the Brandon Wheat Kings in exchange for a conditional pick in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft. The Chiefs also announced that they have acquired 18-year-old goaltender Lasse Petersen off waivers.
Harrison, acquired by Spokane in the 20-year-old cut-down waiver draft in October, appeared in seven games for the Chiefs, scoring two goals. He has 190 career games played with 19 goals and 32 points. The trade brings the Chiefs down to the league limit of three overage players in D Jason Fram, RW Riley Whittingham and LW Adam Helewka.
Petersen, out of Swan River, Man., appeared in seven games with the Calgary Hitmen this season, allowing 17 goals on 140 shots (.879 SV%), including one shutout. He will wear number 35 and is expected to join the team this week. The Chiefs are now carrying three goaltenders in Tyson Verhelst, Matt Berlin and Petersen.
The Chiefs' next game is a road contest against the Tri-City Americans on Saturday, November 7. The game will be broadcast live on SWX and on the radio on 790 KGA.
The team returns home after their current six-game road trip on Wednesday, November 11 for a TicketsWest Player Magnet Giveaway Night against the Everett Silvertips. Tickets for November 11 and all Spokane Chiefs home games are available via TicketsWest, online at www.ticketswest.com or over the phone at 800-325-SEAT.
