Oil Kings Double up T-Birds

EDMONTON, AB, November 4, 2015 - The Edmonton Oil Kings defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 4-2 Wednesday night at Rexall Place.

This was the fourth of six games on the road against the Central Division for the T-Birds. They are 1-3-0-0 on the road trip so far. They finish out the road trip on Friday against the Lethbridge Hurricanes and Saturday against the Medicine Hat Tigers.

Edmonton (5-9-3-0) went in front of 1-0 on a power-play goal by Tyler Robertson at 5:02 of the first period. Robertson put back a rebound from a Luke Bertolucci shot from the left circle. Ben Carroll had the second assist.

Seattle (9-5-1-0) tied the game 1-1 at 18:12 of the first on the power play. Ethan Bear passed the puck to Mathew Barzal who carried it into the Edmonton zone on the left side. Barzal stopped up, held the puck and then feathered the puck to Alexander True coming down the slot. True came in alone on Edmonton goalie Patrik Dea and beat him over the blocker.

The Oil Kings came right back and took a 2-1 lead 20 seconds after True's goal. Brett Pollock skated through the crease from left to right and slid the puck under Seattle goalie Logan Flodell. Lane Bauer had the only assist.

Edmonton outshot Seattle 11-8 in the first period.

Ryan Gropp tied the game 2-2 with a four-on-three power-play goal at 3:17 of the second period. Barzal sent the puck low to True in the right corner. True worked the puck along the boards to Gropp. Gropp looked like he was going to go behind the Edmonton net but stopped up, came back left and slid the puck past Dea's right pad.

The Oil Kings took the lead back at 7:52 of the third on a goal from Brett Baddock. Dysin Mayo had the only assist.

Seattle outshot Edmonton 10-6 in the second period and led 18-17 in total shots after two periods.

The T-Birds pulled Flodell with over two minutes left in the game and down by one. Baddock was able to score an empty-net goal at 17:50 of the period to seal the win for Edmonton.

The T-Birds outshot the Oil Kings 12-9 in the third period and 30-26 in the game.

Flodell had 22 saves and his record is now 5-2-0-0.

Dea made 28 saves and his record is now 3-7-2-0.

T-Birds single game tickets for the 2015-16 season are available online at the T-Birds website and at the ShoWare Center box office. The ShoWare Center Box Office is open Monday through Friday 10 am to 5 pm Saturday game days at 10 am and Sunday game days at noon.
