The Bismarck Larks fell to the Duluth Huskies in the first game of the series on Monday, July 22nd by a score of 13-8. Tonight's game was presented by Bismarck Cancer Center. Additionally, the jerseys worn during the game were auctioned off to help support the Bismarck Cancer Center. If you attended this evening's game and would like to claim your free donut, head on down to a Bearscat Bakehouse location in the Bismarck-Mandan area tomorrow Tuesday, July 23rd. The back-and-forth dogfight of a game ended in a high scoring affair between the two teams ending with a six-run 8th inning for the Huskies to take back the lead and win the game.
What's Next: The Bismarck Larks will again face off with the Duluth Huskies on July 23rd at 7:05 pm. The Larks will hope to even up the series tomorrow evening.
How It Happened: The Larks got on the board first with four runs in the top of the second inning. The first run came on an RBI groundout from Clay Woeste with the bases loaded, Woeste then stole second before Zack Gregory drove in two runs with a double down the first baseline to increase the lead to 3-0. The final run of the inning was scored on a wild pitch to cap off the four-run 2nd inning.
The Huskies then tied the game in the next half inning with four runs of their own. Duluth scored their four runs on five hits while leaving three runners stranded to end the inning.
With the score tied, the Huskies produced two more runs in the 4th inning to take the lead for the first time. An RBI walk and sacrifice fly drove in the two runs scored.
The Larks then scored a run on a wild pitch to cut the deficit to just one run in the fifth inning.
The Huskies added one run of their own to push the lead to 7-5. The Larks then took the lead back in the bottom of the seventh inning. An RBI double from Brian Leonhardt scored Wyatt Ulrich for the first run of the inning before Brody Tanksley's two-RBI double made the game 8-7 and gave the fans the free donuts that they adore.
The Huskies then took back the lead in the next half inning with six runs in the top of the eighth. The six runs were manufactured on five hits and one error as the Huskies never looked back winning the game by a score of 13-8.
