Fresno Falcons News Release

FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno Falcons defenseman Cory Murphy has been loaned to the American Hockey League's Cleveland Barons. The all-time leading scorer as a defenseman in Falcons history, Murphy has 35 points (10g-25a) this season, tying him for fifth among league blue-liners. This is the ninth year pro's second career call-up to the American Hockey League. He appeared in one game for the Utah Grizzlies, then of the AHL, during the 2002-03 campaign.

"We're happy for Murph that he's getting the chance to show what he can do at the next level," said Falcons head coach and general manager Matt Thomas. "He's a very skilled defenseman, and the promotion is well-deserved."

In separate transactions today, Fresno also activated rookie forward Brett Hammond from the seven-day injured reserve list. Hammond has been out of the line-up since he suffered an injury on Dec. 30, a span of 17 games. Pete Fregoe and Rob McFeeters were then both placed on seven-day IR.

The Falcons visit the Stockton Thunder at the brand new Stockton Arena tomorrow at 7 p.m. The game can be heard live on 1550 Sporting News Radio beginning at 6:45 p.m. with the FutureTek Pre-game Show. Fans may also view the game online courtesy of B2 Networks, which can be accessed via the Falcons home page at www.fresnofalcons.com.

Fresno will then return home on Friday, Feb. 10, when they host the Thunder at Save Mart Center at 7 p.m., the second of four in a row against their Central Valley rivals. The first 2,500 fans will receive a Falcons baseball cap courtesy of AT&T, KSEE 24, and Kiss Country. Individual tickets are on sale now at all Ticketmaster outlets and Save Mart Center's box office with prices ranging from $8 - $23.
