
Checkers bounce back against Inferno

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte Checkers defeated the Columbia Inferno 6-2 in front of 3,845 fans Tuesday night at St. Lawrence Homes Home Ice at Charlotte Bobcats Arena. Dusty Jamieson scored two goals on the night to lead the Checkers and earn the First Star of the game.
The Checkers bounced back after 6-2 defeat to the Inferno on Sunday.
Charlotte jumped out to a 2-0 in the second period after a scoreless first. Ryan Fultz and Mike Bayrack scored for the Checkers before the Inferno got on the board on a goal by Leon Hayward at the 5:17 mark of the second. Charlotte answered with goals by Luke Stauffacher, Rick Kozak and Dusty Jamieson to close out the second period with a 5-1 Checkers lead.
Jamieson added his second score of the night, and his 24th of the season, at the 4:14 mark of the third period. Travis Lisabeth rounded out the scoring on the night with an Inferno goal at the 7:19 mark of the third period.
The Checkers outshot the Inferno 42-35 as Jeff Glass picked up his 12th win of the season making 33 saves. Jani Hurme took the loss giving up five goals on 31 shots. Chris Houle took the net during the third period for the Inferno stopping 10 of 11 shots.
Charlotte was 1-of-7 on the power play and Columbia was scoreless on eight advantages.
