Augusta Lynx News Release

The Augusta Lynx saw two solid performances by players turn into Runners-Up honors for both Mike Wall and Sam Ftorek in ECHL Goaltender and Player of the Week balloting for the period ending Sunday, February 5.

Wall returned from the American Hockey League's Portland Pirates in time to stop 70 of 74 shots while posting a 2-0-0 record, 1.98 goals against average and a .946 save percentage as the Lynx took two of three games from the Victoria Salmon Kings this week. The 20-year-old rookie netminder appeared in three games with the Pirates on his most recent stint, recording a 1-0-1 mark to go with a 2.92 GAA and a .904 save percentage.

Ftorek, meanwhile, scored when it counted by tallying both game winners against Victoria. He also added four assists for a six-point week. Starting with three assists on Wednesday in Augusta's only loss of the week, Ftorek put together a three-game scoring streak to help the Lynx go 2-1-0.

Columbia's Jani Hurme was named Reebok Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week while Phoenix's Ben Knopp was named the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week.

Saturday night the defending Kelly Cup Champion Trenton Titans come to town for a 7:35 pm duel, their only appearance of the year.
