Rapid City Rush News Release

(GRAND RAPIDS, MI) - The Rapid City Rush, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Arizona Coyotes, would like to express its deepest condolences to the family of long-time ECHL, CHL, and NCAA official Oliver "Butch" Mousseaux, who passed away earlier today. He was 48 years old.

"The hockey world lost a great referee and an even better person today," said Rush General Manager, Joe Ferras. "Butchy was an integral part of Rush hockey since our first season in 2008, having officiated countless games in our team's history. He was a tremendous role model for so many individuals inside at outside of the realm of hockey. On behalf of the entire Rush organization, we send our deepest condolences to the entire Mousseaux family during this very difficult and sad time."

Last week, while skating in warm-ups for the WCHA semi-final contest in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Mousseaux, a native of Erie, Colorado, sustained traumatic cranial injuries when he fell on the ice. One of the most respected referees and linesmen in the game, Mousseaux was an official at the ECHL and CHL levels, and was best known for his contribution to the NCAA's WCHA conference, having been involved in as an on-ice official there since 2003.
