March 25, 2016 - ECHL (ECHL)
Quad City Mallards News Release
MOLINE, Ill. - The Quad City Mallards have signed rookie forward Trevor Cox, the Mallards announced today.
Cox, 20, turns professional with the Mallards after scoring 18 goals and collecting 43 assists for 61 points in 56 games this season with the Western Hockey League's Medicine Hat Tigers and Vancouver Giants. The 5' 8", 170-pound Surrey, British Columbia, native spent the bulk of the campaign with Vancouver, for whom he produced 14 goals, 39 assists and 53 points in 50 games.
Cox skated for Medicine Hat for four years before being traded to the Giants earlier this season. Last season he was named to the WHL (East) First All-Star Team after leading the league in assists (80) and setting career highs in goals (29) and points (109) as well as assists. Cox totaled 98 goals, 207 assists and 305 points in 324 career WHL games.
The Mallards return to action on home ice tonight at 7:05 p.m. against the Evansville IceMen. Renowned Chicago-based national anthem performer Jim Cornelison will sing "The Star Spangled Banner" before tonight's game. Fans planning on attending this evening's game are encouraged to arrive early in order to avoid lines and to be sure of experiencing what is certain to be a stirring rendition of the anthem. Cornelison will meet fans and sign autographs on the iWireless Center concourse during the game.
The special edition VFW jerseys the Mallards will wear during tonight's contest will go up for bid in a live auction immediately after the game to benefit VFW Post 1303 in Rock Island. The Mallards debuted their VFW jerseys on Veterans Day and have donned them for pregame warm-ups throughout the season.
This evening also bring the return of $1 Dog/$1 Beer Night presented by 97X and MetroLINK College Night.
Single game tickets for all Mallards regular season home games- including tonight's tilt- are on sale now at the iWireless Center box office, Ticketmaster outlets, ticketmaster.com and Ticketmaster charge-by-phone toll free at 1-800-745-3000.
