Quad City Mallards News Release
MOLINE, Ill. - Brody Hoffman made 30 saves and Zach Pochiro's second period goal stood up as the game winner as the host Quad City Mallards (32-26-6) defeated the Evansville IceMen (26-30-9) 3-1 Friday night.
The Mallards were on the power play when Matt Carey's one timer from the right wing circle broke a scoreless deadlock with 53.6 seconds left in the first period.
Pochiro doubled the Mallard lead by converting a centering pass from Jared Knight- who assisted on each of the first two Mallard goals- at 1:37 of the second.
After Evansville's Alex Wideman cut the gap to 2-1 from close range in the third period, the Mallards' Olivier Archamabault scored into an empty net to put the game away in the final minute.
The Mallards return to action on the road tomorrow night against the Wichita Thunder. The Mallards next play on home ice next Friday night at 7:05 p.m. against the Tulsa Oilers. Friday also brings the return of $1 Dog/$1 Beer Night presented by 97X and MetroLINK College Night.
