Wheeling Nailers News Release
WHEELING, WV - The Wheeling Nailers, the "AA" affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Philadelphia Flyers, have announced that local legend "Moon Dog" will be immortalized in one of five mini-bobblehead giveaways at Nailers games during the 2007-08 schedule.
Charles Waldrum, aka Moon Dog, is well-known for riding his unique bicycle around town and often appears at local events including both leading and ending the Wheeling Christmas Parade. His bobblehead will be given away to the first 2,500 fans on March 22 as part of Bicycle Safety Night.
WesBanco Buck (Nov. 24), Santa Clause (Dec. 22), local country artist Joe Zelek(Jan. 12) and Nailers captain Sean Collins (Feb. 23) will be the other four bobbleheads given away this season. Bobblehead Packages are available for $65 and guarantees a bobblehead at each of the five games.
The home schedule starts tonight for the Nailers and the first 2,500 fans receive 2007-08 magnetic schedules courtesy of Stoney Hallow Tire. Saturday marks the first of three collectors cups to be given away with the other two coming on December 21 and March 28.
The Wheeling Nailers go "Pink in the Rink" on November 2 and 3. One dollar from each ticket sold to the games will go towards breast cancer awareness. The team will be wearing special pink Nailers' jerseys during both games and they will be auctioned off following the game on November 3. 100% of the proceeds from the jersey auction will help breast cancer patients in the Ohio Valley. The first 2,500 fans will also receive PINK thunder sticks courtesy of OVMC's Cancer Center, The Health Plan of the Upper Ohio Valley and WTOV 9.
Pucks-N-Pups night returns on March 2, allowing fans to enjoy the game with their four-legged friends. Special seating for fans and dogs will be provided and the second annual Weiner dog race will take place at intermission.
